Mrs. Nandini Bedi
Nandini Bedi moved to the Netherlands ten years ago from India. She lives in Amsterdam with her family. By profession she is a documentary film maker and a writer. Nandini was trained at the Film and Television Institute of India (Pune) in 1987 and specialised in editing.
In 1994, she started making her first documentary. In 1995, she made her first long documentary ‘They Call it a Ladder’. In 1997, she directed and edited ‘Alif Be’ and in 1998, she made ‘I am just an Ordinary Woman’.
Her passion for documentaries is evident. In 2007, 'Ambi Jiji's Retirement' won two prestigious awards. It was her first film with the Garos with whom she lived for two years in a remote village in West Garo Hills, Assam. 'Notes on Man Capture' is her second film with the same people. In 2010 she won the Expatica best blogs award for the year 2010/2011 for her essay 'Taal Tale'.
Nandini explores her Indian- Dutch heritage through her blog at nandinibedi.com. She also gives inter-cultural trainings at KIT Management and Communication Institute and on a free-lance basis for people in business relations with India.
